WhisperNode is designed around local processing, user-owned files, and minimal account friction. This policy explains what the app stores locally, what leaves your device, and which optional integrations you control.

Information WhisperNode Stores
WhisperNode stores podcast subscriptions, episode metadata, queue items, playlists, bookmarks, listening progress, transcripts, settings, and saved AI Snips locally on your device.
When you export OPML or a backup file, that file is created only where you choose to save it, such as phone storage or a cloud drive selected through your device's file picker.
OpenAI API keys and Notion integration tokens, if you add them, are stored in encrypted device storage and are not backed up by WhisperNode.
Audio and Transcripts
Android transcription is designed to run on device. Podcast audio and generated transcripts are not uploaded to WhisperNode servers.
If you choose Cloud transcription and add your own OpenAI API key, WhisperNode sends the relevant audio chunk to OpenAI to produce a transcript under your OpenAI account and OpenAI's terms.
Episode briefs, episode Q&A, and AI Snips can run from local transcripts and notes. If you add your own OpenAI API key for richer answers or summaries, WhisperNode sends the relevant text to OpenAI only when you use that optional feature.
Third-Party Services
- Podcast directory: search and top-chart discovery can request public podcast metadata from Apple Podcasts.
- Podcast feeds: subscribing or refreshing a show requests that show's public RSS feed.
- OpenAI: optional cloud transcription, episode briefs, and episode Q&A use your own OpenAI API key and send only the audio or text needed for the feature you request.
- Notion: optional AI Snips export uses the Notion token you provide and writes selected snips to the Notion database you choose.
- Feature requests: the website opens an email draft by default. If a hosted form endpoint is added later, your submitted message and optional email will be handled by that provider.
- Payments: app-store purchases are handled by the relevant store provider, not by WhisperNode directly.
What We Do Not Sell
WhisperNode does not sell personal data, listening history, transcripts, or podcast subscriptions.
